Airport location / directions to APL
APL is served by the three Washington, D.C. area airports, including Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) approximately 20 miles (32 km) away; Reagan National Airport (DCA) approximately 34 miles (55 km) away; and Dulles International Airport (IAD) approximately 44 miles (71 km) away. There are a number of ground transportation options to APL and a walkable hotel, so a car is not strictly necessary!
Public transportation options
- Taxi, Uber/Lyft: Typically $30 (BWI to APL), $65 (DCA to APL), $75 (IAD to APL).
- Supershuttle: Typically $50 (BWI to APL), $75 (DCA to APL), $175 (IAD to APL)
- Bus: Not a great option because no buses get that close to APL.
- BWI: 201 bus to 305 bus, then 38 minute walk. ~$10
- DCA: Metro yellow line to red line (Silver Spring), then 305 bus, then 38 minute walk.
- IAD: 5A bus to Metro blue/orange/silver (Farragut West), then 305 bus, then 38 minute walk.
For those choosing a rental car, parking at APL is free but can be moderately competitive after 9 AM. You should be able to find a spot, and overflow parking (if needed) is available across the street.
